Jason Statham is tearing through a new horde of bad guys in the action-packed new Mutiny trailer. Hailing from Plane team Jean-François Richet and J.P. Davis alongside Lindsay Michel, the new film stars Statham as former Special Forces operative and London Metropolitan officer Cole Reed who, working in the world of private security, finds himself framed for the murder of his billionaire boss. As he tries to uncover the truth behind the killing, Cole is led to a cargo ship full of hostages linked to a wider international conspiracy.

Ahead of the film's August 21 theatrical release, Lionsgate has unveiled the second official trailer for Mutiny. The video sees Statham's Cole Reed as he climbs aboard a cargo ship that has been hijacked by a group of unknown enemies, teaming with Annabelle Wallis to save the day, showcasing some R-rated action skills as he shoots, stabs and slices his way through the enemies onboard. Statham, who continues his producing streak with the R-rated action-thriller, is joined by a cast that includes both genre newcomers and veterans, ranging from Mercy's Annabelle Wallis to Jason Wong, who previously worked with Statham on Guy Ritchie's Wrath of Man, Citadel's Roland Møller, The Last Kingdom's Arnas Fedaravicius and Ponies' Adrian Lester.

The action-packed new Mutiny trailer certainly shows the movie fits nicely into Statham's typical wheelhouse of one-man army titles. From his fast-paced hand-to-hand combat skills, utilizing his decades of martial arts training, to even mixing in some gunplay with fighting through the various enemies on the cargo ship, the film seems poised to deliver what fans of the producer/star have come to expect. Interestingly, however, while the new film continues his trend of one-man army stories that have been in everything from The Beekeeper to A Working Man, Statham does find himself with a career-first in Mutiny in it being his first Die Hard-like movie. The Bruce Willis classic has inspired many similar tales of action heroes fighting alone while in some kind of isolated location, from Wesley Snipes' Passenger 57 to Richet's own Plane.

The closest comparable movie to Statham's Mutiny would be that of Steven Seagal's Under Siege, in which he played a cook and former Navy SEAL aboard a U.S. Navy battleship hijacked by mercenaries. The 1992 film was memorably a critical and commercial hit, spawning a sequel, which was similarly a box office success, in spite of its lackluster reviews. With its impending August 21 release, it will be interesting to see how Mutiny ultimately stacks up against Statham's other similar genre titles. The first Beekeeper was a smash hit, spawning a sequel currently set for a January 2027 release, while A Working Man was more of a modest success and this year's Shelter barely recouped its production budget at the box office. Given it's coming toward the end of the summer schedule, and primarily will face off against Insidious: Out of the Further in its opening weekend, there's a good chance Mutiny will start modestly and could climb to be a proper hit with good word of mouth.
